COVID-19 Updates

as of: March 24, 2020

Beginning January 8, 2019

Dear DBA students,

I want to let you know I think about you all and also worry about our unforeseen separation. Vacation is certainly a good thing, but not for such a long and indefinite period. Yes, we all turned out to be hostages of this terrible virus, a combination of circumstances that deprive us for an indefinite time of doing what we like and what brings us joy and pleasure. With all the negative emotions we all face, I would like to urge you, my dear students, not to give up, and to continue to practice ballet at home. You can always find a place and build something similar to barre, and if possible, do exercises at least 1 hour a day. You all know what exercises you need to do. Of course, you need to be careful and do not practice double pirouette and big jumps, and so forth. I also recommend turning on rhythmic music and jumping rope for about 15-20 minutes. And after that, do stretches and strengthening exercises on the muscles of the abdomen and back. You can also put your pointe shoes on and do a couple of exercises, such as releve, sus-sous, sissone passe, and so on. But of course, do not attempt any kind of pirouettes, or fouette en tournant! I believe that the situation will be normalized and life will soon return to the usual. And, with double energy and with great desire, we will catch up the time we have lost and show our dancers' character and willpower as we will prepare for Spring Recital and perform as never before! I look forward to this moment when we can continue all our classes! I love you all very much and thank God that I have you as my students. I hope that you all will come back when all this "nightmare" will be over, and our life gets back to normal. I also believe in all scientists who work tirelessly to find a panacea for this virus. I wish you and all your families to be healthy and unharmed by this difficult time of our lives.

Always yours,

Eldar Valiev
